The artwork engages themes of identity, displacement, and self-search. Aksanti B., 2003, is a Congolese refugee artist based in Kampala; his work explores his life as a young refugee male who steps off his like, trying to make meaning with the space he interacts with and the people he meets. He shapes his dream with one brush stroke at a time. His work was exhibited at the UN headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.Â

Mayambala, 16 years, Ugandan. Just like when people enjoy football, he enjoys comics. Julius loves to draw every time. At school, no one knew about comic art, and now, many know him as a comic artist. He started drawing when he was a senior because he enjoyed reading comic books. One day, he challenged himself to draw all the animations he watched. He wants to get better and use his comics to educate people about different things and entertain them. As he learns more about comics–he wants to venture into photography, videography, animations, and movies. As a research-oriented artist, this has helped him better his style and content. He walks to internet cafes to surf and learn more about comics, other artists in the world.

Nabulime is an 18-year-old multimedia artist. Her artworks seek to echo the life and struggles of young girls to engage the audience in examining the silenced world of teenage girls. While she uses a variety of materials and processes in each art piece, her methodology is consistent. This work explores a young girl with extreme self-worth with flowers blossoming all over her.Â
She has no grand illusions that art will create a revolution in the traditional sense, but she has witnessed the powerful changes it can make in an individual.
