This elephant was coming from the dark and moving into the light. Its movement is a sign of hope and transformation. Being a refugee from Nakivaale refugee settlement, I have personally overcome so many challenges just like this elephant. So I see myself as an elephant that is never defeated – Mulanga

My favourite wild animal is a giraffe. I love it because of its height, spots and also its ability to eat leaves on top of trees. In this artwork, I have also painted butterflies as they fly towards my favourite animal. I hope you love butterflies too. – Ashameza

Back in our village in Masaka, my father constructed a new house for my grandmother. The house in which she used to stay in had gotten old and almost was collapsing. My father decided to build a new one just next to the old house as a birthday gift for his mother a she made 75 years. In this artwork, is my grandmother seated in front of her old house weaving a mat while me and my sister going to fetch water on the tap. – Namuganga

Apio is 19 years, Ugandan. She started drawing while still very young at her primary level. She used to draw things like stickmen, flowers, boys and girls holding hands, and trees just like any other child. The objects she draws about now are out of the world. She doesn’t enjoy drawing interiors but imaginary things. She loves art as well as fashion and hopes to pursue both. Apio has an eye for art, and she loves everything artistic and enjoys putting things together. She also thinks that, later on, she will venture into events. As an artist, she gets her inspiration online, especially when she sees artworks from other artists. She doesn’t like to draw human faces because they give her a hard time, but she also knows that that’s not an excuse.
