Behind the Face

Sometimes we show people one side of ourselves and hide the other. I painted this because I think growing up can feel like that. We are expected to be strong, confident and ready for the world, even when inside we are still trying to understand ourselves. The hand covering the face represents the parts of me I don't always show, the questions, fears and struggles I carry quietly. But the eye that remains visible reminds me that I am still watching, learning and finding my way. The shirt and tie represent the future I imagine for myself: becoming someone responsible, independent and confident. I may not have everything figured out yet. But I'm learning that becoming who I want to be starts with being brave enough to face who I am today.
