I made this painting because I wanted to show what being a young Ugandan feels like to me. The colours remind me of our flag, while the green represents the beautiful nature around us. The patterns in my hair remind me of our culture and where we come from. Sometimes, as young people, we are still figuring out who we are and where we belong. But I think our culture, our country and the things we grow up with are part of what makes us who we are. This painting is my way of saying: I am proud of where I come from, and I want to carry it with me as I grow.
