As a mother of four, life is always moving. There’s always something that needs to be done, something that needs to be paid for. Before this program, I spent my days selling bananas, but it wasn’t always enough. Now, I make baskets and jewelry too. And the best part? I have already made money from it.
That first sale felt like a hopeful candle had been lit. Like I was finally creating something with my own hands that could change my family’s future. Now, I want to sell more, expand my banana business, and maybe even open my own craft shop. A place filled with things I made myself.
But my biggest dream, It’s for my children. One wants to be an electrical engineer, the other a doctor. I want to give them that chance. I want them to have the education I never had. That’s why I tell other women: take these opportunities. You don’t need much, just 2,000 Ugandan shillings to start this business. And unlike bananas, these crafts don’t rot. You will always have something to sell.
I’m not just making baskets. I’m building something that lasts.”
