Life and Me delves into the intimate journey of resilience and self-reliance, capturing the grit and inner strength that propel us forward regardless of the weight of our past or the uncertainty of our present. This track confronts the universal quest for hope, echoing the expectation others often hold of us—how far we’ll go, how unyielding we’ll be. But at its core, Life and Me is a declaration: the recognition that salvation lies within. We are, ultimately, the heroes we seek, capable of shaping our own destinies and confronting life’s trials with unwavering resolve.
The artwork engages themes of identity, displacement, and self-search. Aksanti B., 2003, is a Congolese refugee artist based in Kampala; his work explores his life as a young refugee male who steps off his like, trying to make meaning with the space he interacts with and the people he meets. He shapes his dream with one brush stroke at a time. His work was exhibited at the UN headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.Â

My favourite wild animal is a giraffe. I love it because of its height, spots and also its ability to eat leaves on top of trees. In this artwork, I have also painted butterflies as they fly towards my favourite animal. I hope you love butterflies too. – Ashameza

My father works in Kosovo trading centre as a Boda Boda rider. They have a stage where they park their motorcycles in front of a mobile money shop. At their stage, when they see a customer coming, every one of them rushes to go and pick him or her. He tells me that life there is fun but sometimes challenging because some days, he can return without any money because customers are lost. I did this artwork to celebrate my father and his job, I hope to become a doctor when I grow up and support my family. – Agaba

On the days we dont go to school, we talk amongst ourselves to wake up early so that we can do our chores in time. When any of us is finished with her chores at their home, we go to help those that haven’t. When we are all done, we go for playing. Some days, we play football, dodge ball but the most interesting one is skipping the rope because we all love it. My artwork is about rope skipping – Daphine

Nabulime is an 18-year-old multimedia artist. Her artworks seek to echo the life and struggles of young girls to engage the audience in examining the silenced world of teenage girls. While she uses a variety of materials and processes in each art piece, her methodology is consistent. This work explores a young girl with extreme self-worth with flowers blossoming all over her.Â
She has no grand illusions that art will create a revolution in the traditional sense, but she has witnessed the powerful changes it can make in an individual. Just one new idea can change a person’s perception. Creating art isn’t just an occupation to her; it’s a passion she enjoys bringing life to the canvas with vibrant colours and finding new ways to make people see things.

Mayambala, 16 years, Ugandan. Just like when people enjoy football, he enjoys comics. Julius loves to draw every time. At school, no one knew about comic art, and now, many know him as a comic artist. He started drawing when he was a senior because he enjoyed reading comic books. One day, he challenged himself to draw all the animations he watched. He wants to get better and use his comics to educate people about different things and entertain them. As he learns more about comics–he wants to venture into photography, videography, animations, and movies. As a research-oriented artist, this has helped him better his style and content. He walks to internet cafes to surf and learn more about comics, other artists in the world.
